I’m delighted to announce our latest New Manufacturer Member to the ESMA Community – UCC Coffee Europe Ltd.
The UCC story began in 1933 when Tadao Ueshima established a Western-style food store in Kobe, Japan. Having discovered coffee, he dedicated his life to making the ‘mysterious beverage’ popular across Japan.
In 1951, Ueshima Coffee Incorporated was created and the first UCC coffee shop opened in 1958. In 1969, they manufactured and launched the world’s first canned coffee product. Going from strength to strength, they opened their first directly managed coffee plantation in Blue Mountains, Japan in 1981. They were the first Japanese company to sell sustainable coffee (Rainforest alliance) and expanded into Europe in 2012.
Today, UCC is one of Asia’s most successful coffee businesses and Europe’s leading total coffee solution provider for retail and out of home businesses. UCC is a top 5 global coffee company with a turnover of $2.94bn, operating in 20 markets with 30 roasteries, serving 20bn cups of coffee a year.
They work across the entire value chain from seed to sip, delivering high-quality products and services at scale, consistently. Their total coffee solution includes private label roasting, branded coffee, world-class espresso equipment, single-serve capsules, data-driven support, category management and market insight. With global, regional and local expertise, they innovate and collaborate with many of Europe’s most dynamic retailers and out of home operators.
