We’re delighted to announce our latest New Manufacturer Member and ESMA’s first member from China to the ESMA Community – DeZhuang International.
DeZhuang is a leading company of the Szechuan food industry with 20 years of experience under its belt. Years of dedication have earned them multiple awards and recognitions.
In 1999, Mr. Li Dejian opened his first hot pot restaurant in Chongqing. This was one of many hot pot restaurants in Chongqing but Mr. Dejian had strong ambitions.
By 2003, the business had grown and they became the DeZhuang Group. Mr. Dejian developed his own brand of products which were mainly hot pot base mixes, becoming the leaders in the Chongqing-styled hot pot industry.
In 2005, the group had completed its first Agricultural Production Base, achieving a complete traceability system for all core ingredients. Two years later, DeZhuang was recognized as a national key leading enterprise in agricultural industrialisation. Later in 2009, DeZhuang set up China’s first automatic production line.
In 2017, after 7 years of working side by side with their team of experts, Li Dejian developed a clearer and more consumer-friendly pungency degree scale that received an official patent.
In 2018, the group embarked in a joint venture with Gianluca Luisi and a team of international Chinese food enthusiasts with the main purpose of internationalising the brand. From this union, DeZhuang International was born – with the ambition to spread the culture of the Szechuan cuisine worldwide.
DeZhuang was raised to ‘ambassador’ of Szechuan representative flavours and Chongqing hot pot culture in the world. To celebrate this dish, in 2019 DeZhuang created a 10-meters large hot pot, weighing 13 tons, and which won the Guinness World Record title for the world’s biggest hot pot. Since 2019 the huge hot pot has officially become the symbol of the city of Chongqing.
